Department of English Language and Literature organized a visit to the Historical Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina
On Wednesday, 15 November 2017, Department of English Language and Literature organized a visit to the Historical Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The students got a tour of the museum's permanent exhibition, “Sarajevo under Siege”, which showcased the story of the lives of the citizens during the siege of Sarajevo from 1992 to 1995. The exhibition tells the story of the Sarajevan people's endurance and resourcefulness during the three years they spent without water, electricity, heating, and many other things. The story was displayed through pictures, documents, and personal belongings of the citizens.
After experiencing the history of Sarajevo, students had a chance to play Europoly - European Union Identity Trading Game. This is a version of the social game Monopoly created to 'map the social, cultural, and artistic influence which the long-term migration made on the West Balkan countries.’
Altogether, the visit to the museum proved to be a great way for students to learn more about Sarajevo's history, as well as to experience playing a life-sized Monopoly game.
