On November 13, former student at the Department of English Language and Literature and winner of the prestigious Fulbright scholarship Ana Tankosić visited the students and shared her experience with the delighted crowd.
Ana was an undergraduate and MA student at the English Language and Literature Department. Thanks to her hard work and tremendous effort invested, she won the Fulbright scholarship that she applied for while working as a teaching assistant at the very same department she used to study at. The scholarship led her to Pennsylvania, USA and the university community of State College.
The Fulbright Program is one of several United States Cultural Exchange Programs whose goal is to improve intercultural relations, cultural diplomacy, and intercultural competence between the people of the United States and other countries through the exchange of persons, knowledge, and skills. It is one of the most prestigious and competitive fellowship programs in the world. Via the program, competitively-selected students, scholars, teachers, professionals, scientists and artists may receive scholarships or grants to study, conduct research, teach, or exercise their talents abroad.
In a cheerful atmosphere, Ana talked about her life far away from her family, in an unknown country, and the experiences she gained while attending lectures and practical classes in undergraduate and PhD courses. Her story left students in awe, filling them with inspiration, motivation and determination.
